Jesus and Me

Perfection and failure, that's Jesus and me.
Light and darkness, that's Jesus an me.
Love and hate, that's Jesus and me.
He is everything good and true and I am everything evil and vile.
I am the antonym of Christ and He is the antonym of me.
But through grace there is change and transformation.
I have hope because I know there is more to life than dying.
I know that these dry bones can become living again.
And I know that there is a loving Savoir watching over me.
And I have hope that through God's perfect grace,
Life and life can be us.

God Is Love

Going beyond all reason God is good when we are not. He loves us, the unworthy. And saves us who labor in our own sin. He reconciles the wars inside us and makes us a new creation. God holds us in His loving hands and cherishes us with perfect grace. God is better than you can imagine. He is above your understanding and He loves with unrelenting love. Love is a person, and that person is God.

Made to Worship

We were made to praise God.
We are made to worship God with everything in us.
Worship is in itself not a thing that you only do on Sundays at church.

Worship is a lifestyle and a action that you make every day.
As Christian and we are called to live a life of worship.
That means that everything we do should be unto the glory of God.

Lifting up your hands and singing is what most of us think of as worship.
But really that not even the half f it.
We express worship through our actions.
That means living righteous lives.

Which means that if your not living a righteous life than how can you really worship God in full.
When we worship, we present our praise to God, so if your giving God a "present," don't you want it to be a good and clean one instead of a dirty and bad present.
When I worship and when I live, I want to give God my best and my first.

So that means that we will be known by our works. If we do not live righteous lives than how can we be seen as people of God? And how can we worship God if we do not obey Him?

1 John 3:10
By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

So by the actions of people we can know if they are children of God and if they are actually worshiping God.

John 14:15
"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."

We can't bring to God false praise. If we say that we love God and yet our actions prove otherwise than would you say that we love God or not?
Actions do speak louder than words. And the action can either prove or disprove the words.

So bringing this all back to the original point.
We were made to worship.
We can't bring God false praise.
And we have to live a life of worship. Worshiping God through everything that we do.

Its time to worship God in full.
Its time to praise Him with our lives and choices.
Its time to bring honor to the name of Jesus Christ.

Mercy, Love, and Rising

Sin.
We face it every day/second of our lives. Sometimes we rise above it but so often we fall. We fall for sin and don't rise to love.

People so often say that one "falls in love." Well I completely disagree with that. If you had to "fall to love" with someone/make your own personal state worse, well than maybe I wouldn't do it.
Love is something that is to be risen to. If you love someone, don't go and "fall in love" with them, that's stupid, Rise in love, together.
Oh, and don't just say you love them, prove it.

Moving along: We all sin, we all fall short of the glory of God. We've all sown death into our lives.
And God has countless times forgiven us. God has given us second, third, forth, etc. chances.
He's forgiven us more chances than we can count.

Lamentations 3:22-23
"22 The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness."

God's mercy and compassion for us is great. He proved that when He forgave and gave the Ninevites another chance even after all they did.

God's love toward you cannot be stopped. When the kingdom of God moves, nothing and nobody can stop it. God is unstoppable.
And He is merciful. Everytime you fall, get back up again and rise in the Lord.

Proverbs 24:16a

"16 For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again,"

To finish it off, an encouragement.

Micah 7:8b
Though I fall I will rise;
Though I dwell in darkness, the LORD is a light for me.

Don't give up on God's mercy and love.
Don't give up on God.
Rise.

Expectations

Where do you set the bar?
What is the standard you hold yourself to?

Recently I've been thinking about this. People so often hold them selves to a low standard.
They set the bar so low that failure is expected. Especially for teenagers.
Teens are expected to be juvenile, rude, and reckless.
I personally don't believe adolescence. People look at it as a time to mess around, screw up, and be allowed to do so.
What's that all about?

Not only are youths expected to live up to a low standard, but adults as well. Excellence has been thrown out the window and laziness has replaced it. And I know this is a generalization, but the truth is, as a generation, we're slacking.

On a personal level. I don't hold myself to any standard that I've made. My standard is Christ.
Jesus was perfect. That means my standard, my bar, is perfection.
Now I never said we could reach that bar. But I said that perfection should be our goal and bar.
We can never be perfect as Jesus was because He never sinned. Before we come out of the womb we've sinned because of our human nature.
But we can go and sin no more. We can take the gift of freedom from sin and strive to reach the goal of perfection in Christ.

Hold yourself to a higher standard. Make Jesus your standard. Make your goal perfection.
Make Jesus the expectation.

O God Where Are You Now?

Loneliness.
Where is God? How can I live? I can't see God, so is He real?
I've felt this way before, just like the rest of you. We all at some time come to a piont of doubt and despair. There comes a point for all of us that we just can't tkae it anymore. We feel cheated or mocked. Thinking we give so much to this great unknown God and we still can't see Him.

We question our faith on the "deal breaker" that we can't see Him. And in our society, if you can't see it you don't believe in it.
I, like the most of you have felt this and some time. But It gives a realization, if you'll accept it that maybe it's not God fault, maybe it's ours.

What if the reason we can't see God has nothing to do with God "withholding" something from us. What if the reason is because we are sinful and have fallen short of the glory of God. What if it's because we would die if we saw Him. Or there is the fact that God is Light and in Him is no darkness; and it's because of us, who are darkness, that the two cannot join as of now.

But I'm not here to shame you into believing that it's all your fault and there's nothing you can do about it, no there is hope. Because we aren't complete without God. And God doesn't want to just leave us there. He wants to be with/in us. But it's up to us to accept His outstretched hand. Yes, we've sinned and thus cannot join with God because we are darkness. But that's what Jesus is for: to set us free so He can live in us. Jesus sets us free.

But this is all a choice, as to wither you accept and ask for what is given.
It's a choice.

And when it comes to seeing God. On earth we can't. It is possible to see Jesus or angels, but not God. It says so firmly in God's Word.
But we can see God through other things. We can see Him through His Son. We can see Him through what He does. We can see Him through the Word.
And we can HIm know through talking to Him, reading His Word, and worshiping Him in spirit and truth.

Your not alone. God is with you, wither you accept it or not. His love is there for you even when your for God. His love is ALWAYS there for you, no matter what. God loves you and there is nothing you or anyone else can do to change that.
Don't fight God and give in to the world and the Devil.
Give in to God, fight the world, and fight the Devil.
God will never give up on you, Don't give up on Him.

God is with you! If God is for you than none can stand against you.
God sees you! God knows you! And God loves you.
Don't give up.
Look to God and choose life!

By the Grace of God

More Recently

Hello Everyone,
It's been a while since I've posted. Sorry about that. I'm going to try to stick to a weekly schedule now.
Each week's post will be on Tuesdays, so you can be looking for that.
Now for the actual post:

Recently in my life I've been facing, like the rest of you, the challenge of sin. And we all have one sin that always creeps up on us over and over again. For me it's time management. And I know you all saying, but that's not a sin!" Well actually for me it is. I have the problem of spending time in things that are useless instead of investing my time in the things of the Lord. So in that, in choosing to live and spend my time selfishly, I'm sinning.

And more than just being a challenge, it's a battle. I have to continually be making the choice to give my time to God instead of myself. And something I realized recently really brought some light to my situation. When I gave my life to Christ, I gave Him MY LIFE! That means everything. But that not something you just do once. You have to continually be giving yourself to God. But back to the revaluation. I realize that because I'm a Christian, my life is not my own. So if I'm spending it to self indulge, I'm misusing someone's property. God's property.

And that's that. My life's not my own.

Love, Marrage and Valentine's Day

Hello all!
As you all well know, today is Valentine's day. For some this is a day for giving flowers to a girlfriend. For others, it's taking out their wife. For hallmark it's a made up holiday to sell cards. For me it's a day to think of the future. As most of you know, I have a strict policy. I won't get into a deep relationship with someone if God doesn't tell me to. I believe that when it comes to getting married, God will choose a wife for me. What that doesn't mean is that I won't like my wife. Not at all. If I let God choose, my wife will me perfect for me. God knows my heart and everything in me. And God is a good God and as a Father wants to make his children happy, God also wants to make us happy. So with that said, I'm leaving the choice of my wife to God to choose, because if I chose, I'd probably screw it up.
With all that said I want to talk to you about love. In this culture there is a completely messed up and polluted view of what love is. Love isn't an emotion or a feeling. It's not something that you feel, it's something you do. It's a life style you live. In 1 Corinthians it says,

"4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
So love isn't what we as a generation have come to see it as. True love is something we hardly ever see. Love is a choice you make ever day. And with your relationship it comes down to wither you love yourself or him. And it's the same with a man and a woman in a relationship. You have the choice to favor your self or you can choose to love the other and care for them.
So when it comes time that you have someone in your life that you care about more than the others and God has lead you to them, will you love them more than your self? And you can say yes now, but the true answer is shown ever day when you have the choice to choose you or them. As with so many thing,
it all comes down to a choice.
So as you go about your day today, pray and ask God to lead you to the one that He has for you. And when you do so, put aside your emotions or your attractions to people and ask God no matter what the answer who He has for you in your time to come.
And I'll leave you with this,
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Have a great day. And God bless.

Rising Up To the Challenge

We've all made mistakes. We've all fallen. We've all chosen our selves over others. Yes, we've all failed but is that where we choose to still lie? Even though we've sinned God calls us to rise up and greet Him in His majestic splendor. He gives us redemption, a second chance, a new hope. By His grace we can rise again and meet the challenge that God has set out for us. The challenge to change the world! To bring in God's presence where there previously wasn't.
We have the opportunity to rise up and completely change the entire world. We can reach every person on this planet with the hope of Christ. Some may not receive it, but think of all those that will choose to basque in the cleansing flow of Jesus' grace and redemption that He offers to all.
Will you rise to the challenge? Will you stand up and say, "I will go." Will you meet the adventure that is chosen for you? If you choose to let it pass than another will rise in your stead but you'll have missed the call that God has for you.
Will you rise up to the challenge?

Are You Devoted?

"To just read the Bible, attend church, and avoid 'big' sins, is this passionate, wholehearted love for God?"
~Francois Fenelon, The Seeking Heart

James 1:14-15 (feat. Jesse Lasley)

I had a great talk with my friend this morning at Starbucks after a prayer meeting at our church. He is incredibly wise in the things of God. We were talking about temptation, and as you all know God works in great ways.

I was talking to him about how the devil tempts me relentlessly. And he brought to me a verse. James 1:14 "But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. "

Did you get that? "tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust." It's your heart that is generating temptation. And yes, the Devil takes advantage of that, but the problem to be fixed is not the Devil, it is your heart. Because as it says it is your lust that generates temptation. The temptation is not created by the Devil, but by something within you.

When you have a pure heart the Devil has nothing to work off. So what you need to do, is shut yourself from the world, block it out, and most importantly: fill that time with the word of GOD!

The Bible is the ultimate tool. God works through it in truly miraculous ways. Take advantage of that!

Reevaluate what you put in your life if you ever want to get anywhere or do anything in God.

If you do not change the position of your heart though, the scripture goes on to say "Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death." -verse 15

You have to change where your love is. If you are being tempted due to your own lust, you love your lust. That needs to be changed, and I'm speaking personally too, I'm working through this currently, and the only way I can succeed is through the words of God. I thank Him continually. I pray and fast to Him, I read His word and keep it hidden in my heart as Mary did. There is no other way to obtain peace.

"You have to die to yourself, Rise with the King, Believe He will set you free, Fly With the King." -Trust Him by SBG Rebirth

If you want this, you have to remove yourself from anything that familiarizes yourself with your past sin, you have to scrape yourself bare until no longer you have any definition from your personality or the physical characteristics that the world stamps on you. You have to peel it off until all that defines Jesse as Jesse, or Brina as Brina, or Nathan as Nathan and so on is your relationship with God.

So that people see Jesse, and all that they can see to define me because I am associated with nothing else is my relationship with God. And then, you can build from there.

But you cannot start building before then. You have to be unashamed. If you are shameful of your past of your or your lack of physical character at this stage, you truly have not got to the bare minimum.

Shame, Pride, Jealousy, they're such ominous words that, we say, "How do we defeat something that we can not truly explain or understand in vivid definition. How can we scale a mountain that we cannot see the top of? By not associating yourself with it. By kicking it out of your heart. AND REPLACING IT WITH THE WORD OF THE LIVING GOD. I cannot tell you enough how important that is. If you're wanting to hear from God, open His word! Has He not had men write down His exact words for you? Has He not ordained that book as His Living Word? Do you understand those two words? They mean that what was heard and written down centuries ago is still true and prominent today! The things He said then are still true now. For God's word does not die. It is LIVING! You have to get that!

Not only do you have to read His word, but you must embrace it! You must come in to contact with the truths of God and then live them, right down to the last aspect. The power of God's word is unimaginable. They are truly words of power. But you cannot understand them or do not remember them, or will not embrace them they have lost all that power. You must read, and reread, you must understand His word, and if you cannot on your own, you must find someone who does. And once you have an understanding of the word, you must remember it. I love Awanas! I never really participated, but what they do is sacred. When you have all the scripture stored in your miraculous brain use it! You have to apply the word of God in combat with the principalities of this world. That is why the Bible is called a sword. It's word are crippling to the Devil!

That was quite long, but I really want this for all of you. You NEED to embrace his word. And get rid of your crap! Your luggage, your stuff, whatever it is, TV, friends, music, if it is keeping you from God get rid of it, no matter how hard it is to do so. Until then you will not hear the words of God because you will be in love with something other than him. That is why removing the things of this world from your daily input is vital, if it takes away from God GET RID OF IT! If you don't do that you are nothing. So seriously, suck it up, I've tried to be nice, but sometimes you have to say it as it, and this goes for me to quite often. GET RID OF YOUR CRAP! Seriously! It's not worth it! I don't know what your crap is, but I know you do, and you're thinking of it right now. Just remove it, and fill it with the Word. I've been repeating that because no matter how many times I say it, you don't get it! Fill your time with the Bible, with prayer, and with fasting. You will literally have no social life! And that's okay! But if you want it enough, if you want to receive breakthrough, you will get desperate, and you will get drastic. And let me tell you, it is worth it.

The Impossible

There are those times in life where we all face the impossible. We see a wall that that looks uncrossable, a gap between now and then stands before us, an enemy that over-powers us a hundred fold. In all these things we have the option to accept defeat or embrace the victory that has already been won.
In my personal life right now I'm facing the impossible. Last time this happened I ran away in terror. But not this time. This time I'm looking the impossible right in the eyes and saying, "Come at me bro!" =) The difference in me between then and know is where my strength is found. Last time I relied in myself for strength, and that didn't go over so well. This time though, my strength is in Jesus and He is my strength.
So what I want to say to you all is don't get bogged down by the things of the impossible. If you have God as your strength then you get nothing to worry about. So when the impossible comes, don't focus on the physical but the spiritual. Focus on Christ.
